Someone turned to me the other day, when I made mention of Insane Clown Posse (ICP) during a reference to recent clown sightings, and asked me if I ever listened to them. I said yes, because I did a very long time ago. That person told me that they had converted to Christianity and are now a Christian group. I was pretty amazed at the thought of that, but wanted to find out for myself the when, where and all of that. Anyhow, I did a simple Google query using keywords “Insane Clown Posse Christian”. What I found was claims that they had always been a Christian group…..*insert sound of record scratching here*…say what?!?!? Ok, I know we now live in a world where “active clown threat” is a code for locking down the schools due to a potential terrorist threat, but I don’t think so!
Who is Insane Clown Posse? A group that came out in the 1990’s and created the Juggalo sub-culture following that is obsessed with horrorcore rap, grotesque violence, painting one’s face in clown makeup or corpse makeup, and most definitely anti-Christian, although the sub-culture movement had a somewhat warped sense of belonging, by conforming to the Juggalo look and lifestyle.
From the articles I have found online, this supposed Christianity goes all the way back to 2002. If you go to YouTube and begin watching videos from ICP, you will quickly realize that this is not a Christian group. They claimed a few years back that they have been Christian all along, yet all of their music is affixed on violence, F-bombs, and just general insanity and a promotion of an attitude of apathy. What they did was commit blasphemy against G-d, as the song Miracles proves. They even said in one interview that I read that when they turned to Christians, they chose to reject science and rational thought.
You see, they are about as Christian as Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson and Type-O-Negative, mocking instead of repenting. Don’t confuse blatant, sarcastic blasphemy with the Truth. Their videos are like what I would imagine bad drug trips would be like. Just for the sake of giving them the benefit of the doubt, I watched a video for Falling Apart on Youtube. Yep, bad drug trip with lots of F-bombs, just like the ICP I knew long ago. Their song “Where’s God?” states that there is no one who can give an answer to that question, that there are no experts. The answer has been given since in the beginning, and repeated very loudly 2,000 years ago on the cross, it is written. Sin separates us from G-d and fairness has nothing to do with what is just.
The original cop killer/clown movement as the lyrics to the below song clearly indicate. WARNING EXPLICIT LYRICS
